Nursing students should never debate politics..

09/21/2012

Unless you live in a box you know this election is interesting to say the least. So many points have been made, some that could make a difference others not so much. I for one am not educated on politics as I should be, so when people bring up the current issues I tend to stay out of it. I mean who am I to say who is better if I honestly don't even know what each persons policies are? In my nursing class we split into two sides ( I chose Obama) and from there we were to propose policies that related to health care and then each side would rebuddle or prove their point. If you have never been in a nursing classroom, let me give you a little back story...most nursing students are Type A personalities. Which means they like things their way and think they are always right for the most part Lol. I am a type A personality myself. So needless to say the debate got pretty nasty. Also the republican side of the classroom was upset that the teacher was leaning towards Obama.  I honestly was lost most of the debate because people would start talking about something and then go off on a tangent because they weren't entirely educated on the policy. I can't say that it wasn't fun watching people on each side get angry and preach their opinions...and then everyone in the room go quiet when an individual asked if the Republicans were complaining when they cashed in their stimulus checks.

If you are in to politics I hope you are educated in all aspects and really consider both sides. Every vote counts.  Ps: We conquered week 4, everyone ready for week 5??? Xx- Kait
