1 down...8 to go.

01/24/2013

This week I started my capstone experience at Fayette Memorial hospital in Connersville, Indiana. If you don't know what capstone is, it is pretty much where you are going to a facility and working under a preceptor, which in my case is a nurse. It is almost like on the job training and it really helps develop skills and you become more independent and competent as a nurse. My preceptor works on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:00am-6:00pm. I have never worked a 12 hour shift in my life, and my first day was just shadowing. So although i was excited about being there, 12 hours seemed like an extremely long time to watch someone do something! I did get to see and learn a lot of different things, and next week I get to advance to taking care of 1-2 patients on my own. This experience has my eager to graduate and find a job and start my career! I can't wait to have a schedule like my preceptor has. Work three days and have the weekends off?! That sounds pretty amazing to me after 5 years of crazy schedules and school. In other news, we made it through week 2!!!!! That means that we only have about 13 more weeks............ Lol but who is counting?  Track season is also in full affect. Our first meet is on March 16th so that gives us a good two months to prepare. I am crossing my fingers that it warms up by then because right now it is ridiculously cold outside. Bundle up peeps! xo-Kait
