BUSY!!!!

Alright so it is Friday afternoon. Thursday was a free day in Venezia and then Thursday night we hopped onto an overnight train to Vienna, Austria. Here it is called Wien. German is the official language here and it is rather difficult to get used to but I am rapidly picking it up. It is fun to use the hard syllables and learn new words. The keyboard here is also strange. Y and Z are switched... culture shock!

So this afternoon we are taking a short jaunt to Bratislava, Slovakia and spending the evening eating Slovak food and taking in the city. Tomorrow Dr. Farmer has his music recorded at the Slovak National Radio or somethign like that. The composition students will spend the entirety of Saturday in Bratislava while the music class students will return midday to Wien to explore and eat more delicious Austrian food.

Sunday will be a full day of class here in Austria because we have only had half a day here so far. When we arrived we visited the church where Vivaldi is buried and then went onto the Schöenberg Institute. He deserves more credit in the states than he is given. The institute was full of really interesting facts and relics and videos on him. Something a lot of students did not realize is that he was also a painter. A good one at that.

Nathaniel, Ali, and I had lunch at a small Austrian restaurant in the middle of a small market. I had potato soup and it was delicious. Ali had the frankfurt and mustard and Nathaniel weiner schnitzel. I tried it and omgggggggggggggg I cannot wait until Sunday´s final meal of the trip when we as a group are going out to a fancy place to get it together! MM. Hofbrauhaus here I come with all of my friends when I get back. This stuff is delicious.

So, at various times of the day on Saturday we will all reconvene in Vienna and spend one last day together on Sunday. Monday morning we´ll have hotel breakfast, cabs to the Vienna airport, then a layover to Paris. From there some of us have layovers in DC and some in Atlanta. We´ll arrive in Dayton from 11:25-11:35ish and probably run into each other at the baggage claim. I write all of this because I am unsure of when I´ll blog again. Probably on Saturday and Sunday evening but in case not, there are the game plans.

PS-The food in Austria is oh so good. This little country needs more props than it gets.
