Volume 9, Number 8 of the Pioneer Press (aka The Howler) reported that the "Human Services Organization (HSO) has adopted a constitution and elected officers." The advisor was Dr. Valerie Chang, former Director of the IU East Human Services program, professor and noted author.
Some of the early activities included a can goods drive competition between IU East, Earlham College, Ivy Tech and Richmond High School. A yearly art auction was also held. HSO supported Wernle Children's Home activities sponsored by bake sales and car washes. One of the earliest projects was to send a magician and Halloween candy to Wernle Children's Home. Other fund raising events: game booths, and a salad bar helped to raise funds for organization events and area needs.
Any IU East student wishing to join SSWA will be given admittance to the SSWA OnCourse site. Email email@example.com to join today!
