Benchmark 1 – Admission to School of Education

  • ENG W 131 completed with a C or better
  • SPCH-S 121 completed with a C or better
  • Successfully completed 24 or more credit hours with a GPA of 2.5 or better

Benchmark 2 – Admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP)

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better in the following courses:
  • EDUC-F 205  must be C or better.
  • EDUC-W 200
  • EDUC-N 102 must be C+ or better
  • EDUC-Q 200
  • EDUC-P 250 must be B- or better
  • EDUC-M 201 must pass
  • HIST-H 105/106 must be C or better
  • Writing Sample must pass
  • Interview must pass
  • Praxis 1 must be successfully completed:
  • Reading (176) ____ Writing (172) ____ Math (175) ____  (Comp. 527) ____or ACT of 24____  or SAT of 1100____

Benchmark 3 – Admission to Student Teaching:

  • Student Teaching application submitted by December 1 of the prior academic year
  • All Methods courses successfully completed
  • At least 60% of the minor completed
  • 3.0 average in Methods courses with no grade lower than a C+
  • C+ or better in ENG-W 290
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better
  • 2.5 or better GPA in each subject area:
  • Humanities
  • Science
  • Math
  • Behavioral and Social Sciences
  • Foundations
  • Interview with the Director of Field Experiences before submitting application
  • Successfully complete the Pre-Student Teaching Portfolio

Benchmark 4 – Program Completion and Graduation

  • All coursework completed with cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better
  • Student Teaching (M425) and Capstone (M420) successfully completed
  • Application for Graduation submitted to Student Records office by deadline

Benchmark 5 – Licensure with State of Indiana

  • Praxis II exams successfully passed  ______________     _________________
  • Background check completed
  • CPR and first aid training completed
  • Apply for license through Indiana Department of Education
