Rehearsal Instructions 2015

Reherasal is on Thursday, May 14 (5:15 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.)

At rehearsal, we will share commencement-related information with you, as well as rehearse what you can expect to go through during the actual commencement ceremony. 

What Will Be Covered At Rehearsal

First, all commencement/rehearsal participants need to be in the Tiernan Center, to go to the RHS Cafeteria, no later than 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.

Once in the cafeteria, line-up behind your division’s sign.

You will be given a 3x5 index card.  The card will have your name on it, whether or not you are graduating with honors, and a number.  The number indicates the order in which you should line-up.

The Processional

The order of the procession is: Grand Marshal, Graduating class (led by their School Marshal), Faculty, Platform party

Once you are lined-up, we will begin the processional.  Each school will follow their Faculty Marshal.  When your Faculty Marshal goes, you follow.

Follow your Marshal to the center seating area in the auditorium, go to your seat, and remain standing.  Further directions will follow from the podium.  You will be told when to sit.

While still in the auxiliary gym, we will read the names, and distribute honors cords to those students who have qualified for them.

Please wear your honor cords at commencement (over your left shoulder).

If your name does not get read, but you believe it should have been, please contact Mandy Hoadley in Student Records at (765) 973-8292 first thing FRIDAY morning, May 15.

The Commencement Script

When everyone is in their place in the auditorium, we will proceed through the commencement script

At the appropriate time in the script, we will rehearse the announcement of your names as you cross the stage.

Proceed one row at a time up to the stage.  The Chancellor will shake your hand and give you a diploma cover.  Walk up the steps (right of the platform as you face the platform) and give your 3x5 card to the Registrar.  He will read your name.  Cross the stage, shake hands, and descend the steps on the left side.  Return to your seat and remain standing. 

Don’t sit until your entire row has returned.

Again, the order of the recessional is: 

  1. Platform party
  2. Faculty
  3. Graduates
