Back with the Wolfettes!

10/26/2014

As I slipped my pink polished toes into the worn, tan leather shoes I could already feel the pain that will soon follow. As I stretched, pulled, and popped my body into every which way the creaks sounded like an old house coming back to life. Spotting my way through the many turns in the mirrors and jumping like a doe, I could feel the tiny incinerator in my body fire up. Day one, and I'm back with my pack.

As I sit here now, knowing my butt will feel the pain of the many pulls and icing my softball sized knees, I am filled with excitement for this new year. My once lonely group of five grew into a mighty group of nine great girls. Three of us returned from the freshman year and have found ourselves in the sophomore year of the pack attack. Nine quirky wolfettes that I can already tell will be a fun bunch to dance with. Our new couch doesn't stray far from this pack either, with her "nerdy" personality she fits in this tutu and strange filled pack. We are all little nuggets looking to find our sauce, and by sauce I mean our dancing legs.

Honestly it's bitter-sweet finding myself back in the worn dance shoes I love so dearly. It's sweet to know I have two girls by my side that will keep my head up when they see it falling and tell me that my paint splatter of tears aren't worth ruining my makeup over. It's even better knowing I have eight girls I can call eight new friends. Plus what a great way to work out! Bitter, well bitter is for another story. One that I would have to tell you in person and over a good cup of coffee on a good day. Just know it was hard and wonderful all at once.

Although this season is starting a little differently than last, I can't wait to see how well both the men's and women's teams do this year. At the end of every game that's what is important, how well they do. Of course I care about my performance, but this is basketball and as a Hoosier I can't stress enough how important basketball is!

I am a member of the 2014-2015 pack attack. This season will be wonder filled and successful I can already tell. Where this journey takes me, I can't say yet, however I will say through all the struggles and the many knee icings I am over joyed to be doing something I have grown so fond of. I'm a wolfette!

Here's a little challenge for you all! As a wolfette I dance at many of the men's and women's basketball games. That being said, try to make a point of coming to at least one game this year. Our girls team is new, so I'm sure they'll generate a lot of hype for themselves and bring in the fans. However, as sad as this is, our men's team is not as lucky. I hate dancing to no one, and not having a crowd isn't fun for the players either. So please for the love of all things basketball come out and support our favorite Red Wolves!

Much love.
